I have 2 characters ideas (based on miniatures I use for gaming). At the moment both level 1 Paladins. Looking for Stat Choice/Progression and Level Break down. (If character going back and forth please notate P3/W3/P2/W6/P6 or other recommendations.)
Characters for use with Adventurers League, using PHB and XGTE. (Needing Level 5 Paly or Level 5 War with Thirsting Blade for 2 attacks. and NO booming/Green Flame Blade spells. (Sobs in Corner))
Human Variant Using Great Sword and Point Buy. (Thinking going HEXBLADE/PACT so can focus on CHA and CON and Feats)
S (13) 15 (+1 and Armor Master Feat <+1>)
D 12
C 14
I 8
W 10
CH (15) 16 (+1)
Tiefling going Sword and board and Array (Thinking going HEXBLADE/PACT so can focus on CHA and CON and Feat <And a feat to add +1 to STR for Heavy Armor>)
I normally don't link things like this, but you're asking for a lot of information which can be found pretty easily, especially if you just need someone to build it from the ground up for you.
Give that a look over and see what you think about it. It goes back and forth on the pros and cons, gives you optimization option for a few races including the types of armor differences and level progressions. Other than that, you're probably just going to have to play the character out and not need to worry too much about how to optimize it so soon. There could be a lot of element about playing a Padlock you may not like.
EDIT: ultimately what it comes down to with progressing this way is doing a lot of damage, but only to one target, so you're hurting on the flexibility portion. You're the boss killer, so as long as the rest of the party can pepper enemies down and mop up the room, you should be ok.
You wouldn't need a high strength score, you would at most need a 13 so you can multiclass into paladin, but feel free to choose any race that gives a good bonus to cha.

Successfully completed the Tomb of Horrors module (as part of playing Tomb of Annihilation) with no party deaths!
Thank you.
