I created my first Character using a regular character sheet. Lightfoot halfling rogue. I then found out about this website and decides to plug my character in to check my math and everything. The only thing I couldn't plug in was my entertainer background, but by using custom I was able to add correct proficiencies and equipment. The only thing I'm missing is a lovers trinket. I was checking my digital sheet and it says I have proficiency in unarmed attacks. Where does that come from?
If you don't like it showing up on your character sheet's action section, click on "Unarmed Strike", click on "Customize", and uncheck "Display As Attack".
Everybody is proficient in unarmed strikes. It comes from the basic rules.
About this, I believe the unarmed strike counts as a simple weapon, as detailed in the Equipment sections of the Basic Rules and PHB. Not all characters have full simple weapon proficiency.
I can't seriously imagine a non-monk wizard using an unarmed strike for anything productive.
EDIT: Just looked at the rules again, and I stand corrected. Nevertheless, I stand behind my wizard example.
Nobody said anything about being productive. But if you are unarmed with your hands tied and your mouth gagged, you can headbutt someone following the unarmed strike rules.

Well unarmed damage is 1 + strength modifier. Consider most wizards are going to have at least -1 strength - proficiency to hit isn't going to help an awful lot when the damage is a whopping 0.

And if your arms and legs are cut off, you can bite their legs off.
