My group is doing Ascent into Avernus, we are level 6 at the moment and I am looking to make a Drow Gloomstalker as a back up character I am looking for feat and build advice.
I’ve got him set up with a rapier and a shield, and I selected dueling as his fighting style. My Ac is Currently 18, my base standard array stats are 15 Dex, 14 Con, 13, Wisdom, 12 strength, 10 Int, 8 cha. I took alert as my feat and have my initiative +9.
I am wanting to hit enemies fast and first, hit and run, disappear into the shadows.
Maybe mobile or charger as feats would be good, but if you really want to hit fast and hard and back out, just sharpshooter crossbow expert would to better for you.
Wood Elf would be a much better choice than Drow. You're completely wasting the +1 charisma bonus if you're making charisma a dump stat. If you're doing melee, 90 ft dark vision is more than enough, there's no need for 150ft. The extra movement speed from Wood Elf will be very useful if you're melee, and the extra Wisdom will also be useful, including giving you a bonus to your initiative. The only useful thing you're getting from Drow is the Dancing Lights cantrip and a couple of once per day spells. But that's not better than +5ft movement speed and +1 to Wisdom, especially since it would change a 13 in Wisdom to a 14 in Wisdom.

To add to this, I would suggest holding off on that feat and using the ASI on your dex and con scores. That would make you more hearty, harder to hit, and hitbharder in return.
As I always say I recommend Gloomstalker 5/ Battlemaster 3/Assassin11/something1 If you want less assassin and more regular combatant make the rogue levels Swashbuckler. That build has it all- spells, great nova and sustained damage, good survivability, single stat dependency, very good skillmonkey, ton of options and great action economy.
the last level could be in either class, granting a feat or will save proficiency all of which is good.
As for feats here is what I go for with my main character: Elven Accuracy (best feat in the game), Alert, Lucky (a lifesaver), Ability Increase (dex) leaving the suggested build with 1 free feat that could be many things. If you use a shield, shield master is great. Other options are Ritual caster for lots of spells including find familiar, sentinel or mage slayer. Many options really :)

First, it's 60 ft or 120, and only dex adds to initiative

"Dread Ambusher
At 3rd level, you master the art of the ambush. You can give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Wisdom modifier."
I am playing a gloomstalker at the moment (lvl 4) I am thinking about the following multiclass options:
lvl X ranger + 1lvl war domain Cleric (at lvl 6)+ ASI at lvl 4 and Sharpshooter at lvl 9 (Ranger 8)
lvl X ranger + 4lvl Battlemaster Fighter , Spear and Shield Polearm master/Shield master
lvl 5 ranger+ lvl X Scout Skillmonkey
It seems that you haven't read the Gloom Stalker's level 3 abilities.
