I don't think that works. I believe you would need some kind of reaction based teleport, which I don't think exists. I think you will have to settle for having a Contingency set on DDoor with the trigger being the breaking of the staff.
So it was....interesting haha. The others started just as high level (only 4) and it was a dream (read: nightmare) sequence set up that led to it being 4 vs 2 (the 2 being 2 of my pcs) I started with a meteor Swarm, which effectively did nothing since one player had shield master (also all the other pcs had adv too on the save, again like I said interesting) so out of 156 rolled total they all passed for half, none, and absorbed the fire and everyone stayed alive then the following turn another pc just wished for a full heal on the party. so my 2 flew up high (boots of flying item and the other was the div soul). This made the meleers kinda S.O.L. (also found out the 4 had a cursed item so it had a hamper-ish) The 2 casters I kinda nailed with a rodded fireball followed up with synaptic static. My dream pc "realized" it was a dream which turned the other pcs adv into disadv on saves and I got to cast invulnerable on my lower lvl pc. Oh and the one cursed item of a player was an actual monkey paw of 3 wishes. He wished for my pcs' feet to not leave the ground, so the DM said their feet are on the ground but the rest is in the air and could even still fly with the boots on the ground (they couldnt be damaged either). So that player said was like ok so lets go full monkey paw. They wished that gravity didnt exist and it turned for everyone but my low level pc into a tpk. Thus creating all of them glowing different colored eyes and forming into Tiamat, scaring the shit out of my low end pc amd waking him up.
It was this person's first time DM'ing and while it was rushed a kinda odd, the premise was fantastic. I would've liked to see it flushed out more and maybe long than a one shot, but for what it was I enjoyed the idea of it all. Oh! also everytime someone went off game topic the dm had them roll on the wild surge table. Which was kinda fitting for a dream.
Oh with the gravity thing, everyone and everything floated up into space and "died" except my invulnerable guy. The funny thing of it was too that my next turn I was gonna kill my lvl 20 pc just to have him come back the following turn from a clone in a demiplane (complete with focuses stored there) to cast wish and wish none of this ever occurred XD lmao.
That sounds pretty wild. I like it. I'm sure if the DM gets a chance to continue pursuing these ideas they'll lead to some really cool things. Seems like a nightmare to handle from a mechanical perspective for sure.
Also that clone plan is just hilarious. I love where your head was at with these ridiculous trump cards. If you're going to be thrown into something this off the wall, might as well embrace the shit out of it.
I would have loved to see Mr. Monkey Paw's face after everything went so spectacularly poorly for them. I'd be laughing my ass off if I was them. The amount of exploding-in-face action is just too good.
It really was! XD when the first one went awry monkey paw user embraced it and knew he'd go big boom bust XD.
Thanks, yeah I figured if I have the capability of wish to do this and no clue what is being thrown at me probably the safest bet is create something that is, effectively, immortal XD

Thats what Im thinking too, or have it word based and reaction in reaction scenario to ddoor away. Idk though.
Yep that will work. As long as your DM is giving you some time pre-fight to set this up.
that they are
Good luck Royal! Slay em dead
