I am working on a concept of Tiefling Warlock Hexblade (Unearthed Arcana), pact of the Weapon. I have an idea of him being a noble who has walked away from the city life to improve his combat skills. He has used his sharp tongue to provoke people into duel and then use his abilities (Darkness/Devil's Sight, Hex, Curse) to over come them.
I am picturing the character with a long sword, shield and half plate. My DM has been letting new players start with 2 magic items. (And this idea is an alt character if(when) my Kender finally bites the big one. I really like the idea of a Sword of Wounding, I like the potential additional damage per round. I know it's probably left optimal than a +1 sword, but we are in a relatively high magic world. I was looking for a second magic item and I haven't seen anything that jumps out at me. There doesn't seem to be any exciting armor or shields in the DMG or Swordcoast Adventures that seemed to fit.
Any suggestions?

Ring of Spell storing is amazing for warlocks because you can basically have another spell slot of a spell you prepare beforehand, and Ring of the Ram is fun because you get to do some force damage and being able to knock an enemy off a ledge is pretty helpful. As a noble i suggest looking through the different rings. I think it would be cool to make your Signet ring something that has magical properties

Hell yeah I am going to Polymorph the boss into a Rabbit. I have always wanted a being a pure evil stuffed into a ball of fluff.
Hexblade, Pact of the Blade is nice because at level 3, with the selection of two invocations, you're almost equipment independent.
With the Armor of Shadows and Improved Pact Weapon invocations you have Mage Armor on demand, which is AC13+Dex mod, or the equivalent of +1 studded leather, and the ability to summon all melee weapons and a selection of ranged weapons that are also +1 and magical. If you start with 16 Dexterity (move the +1 from intelligence to dexterity) and grab a shield from someone you kill, that's AC18 which is not bad. If you throw on things like a Ring of Protection and Cloak of Protection you'll be running about 20AC which is pretty good.
Of course if you can buy a breastplate (AC14 + dex mod (max +2)) or half-plate (AC15 + dex mod (max +2)) you can trade the Armor for another invocation that's more useful at that point.
To me the big trick was learning that some staves can be used as magic weapons. This makes something like the staff of charming or spider staff a magic weapon and a way to cast spells and protect yourself.

What is the maximum rarity your DM is allowing the item to be?

Probably up to Very Rare, but if it makes sense story wise or cool factor and not broken maybe higher.

Ring of Spell Storing sounds pretty perfect, I totally did the idea, the flavor, and practicality.
Thank you!
