I am trying to deice which which class/multi class and alignment i should select for character backstory/personality I have interested in playing. I was thinking cleric - rouge- Assassin MC or possibly a demonic paladin.
The concept is a dark character who kills for money all those hired kills are meant to be a sacrifice to the players god. Otherwise every other attach is simply a matter of survival. He wont attack party members unless he feels they have crossed him.
First off, I truly hope the sacrifice is to the character’s god, not the player’s god.
Second, that’s really a role play situation there. Pretty much any kind of character can adopt the concept, since there’s no mechanics attached to it. Though a phantom rogue could fit really well, since it does attach mechanics to killing people.
Also, the last sentence should read “He won’t attack party members.” D&D is a team game, the edgy loner thing gets tired really fast. So don’t attack your party members is the better attitude. And if you ever find yourself saying, but that’s what my character would do, it’s a bad sign. It often means you’re doing something annoying to the other players, and you know it’s annoying to the other players. Instead, find a reason to have your character do something else.
Speak to your DM about whether they would allow such character, even if he will not kill the other party members killing innocent npcs can lead to difficulties, in such a circumstance good party members would probably want to either take you to the authorities or at least have nothing to do with you so they are not hunted down by the authorities as accomplices. Playing an evil character in a good party is not easy especially for a new player and could well ruin the game.
If you are new I would also advise against multi class it is very easy to create a multi class which is very weak and it is often difficult to work out how features from different classes combine.
