So the title is a little clickbaity, I know, but I do need some advice/opinions on a Tempest Cleric. So I really like the mechanics of the Tempest Domain, Martial weapons and Heavy Armor for free, not to mention some powerful offensive spells mixed in with the clerics healing and support spells is great too. My big question is the according to the "Rules" Tempest clerics are consider evil as they are tied to gods like Talos and Grumush (spelling?), but do they have to be? Since tempest clerics are tied to nature via the storm motify, I was wondering if a Tempest Cleric could act as a Warpriest for other nature gods like Sylvanis (spelling?). Love the idea of a Silver or Bronze Dragonborn Storm Cleric helping with the local harvest while also being able to literally bring the thunder against mauraders. Any advice would be helpful!
They look fun indeed! Everytime I look at them I get a sense that it falls between the Nature and War domain. Both I have looked at but nature seems to peaceful and War seems a little flat, in my opinion at least.
I know the question's been answered, but I'll throw in another vote for how fun Tempest Clerics are. Played one through level 13 or 14. I was the main healer for the party, in addition to being really tanky and dealing some good damage with spells. It really gave me interesting choices round-to-round about what to do in a fight.
Not tempest I know but the new rules allow a War Domain Cleric to cast Shield of Faith or Spiritual Weapon as a BA using channel divinity, and as such not using a spell slot. So can also cast a magic action in the same round (spirit guardians maybe) to power up in round 1 of a fight.
