How do people build them. How do you get best use of their features? What's the best species and background? What mistakes have people made with building their cleric? Are there any tricky rules it's helpful to discuss with your DM so you're on the same page? Any cool moves you make with your Trickery Cleric?
Looking like that's where I am leaning for next character. So I am after thoughts from anyone who's been-there-done-that already...!
Trickery Clerics have a higher than average variety of Arcane spells they can cast and most are great. This and their abilities are useful in any party with a mix of different classes. So the usual.
Their Invoke Duplicity feature is best used before combat or from a hiding place since it takes an Action and you don't want enemies to see you actually creating the illusory you.
This is the Cleric class that benefits a lot from staying the same class, though there are some potentially good builds with Ranger to get Archery Fighting Style to boost a late game Sharpshooter feat. There is also support for a Warlock build where you focus on Charisma, Wisdom, and Dexterity stats in that order if you want to spam Eldritch Blast and really utilize your illusion spells and lean into being the party's face. With a Pact of the Chain familiar that has a poison or sleep attack, Invoke Duplicity adds extra levels of fun.

It's an action to create the duplicate under the 2014 rules, but the 2024 version changed creating the duplicate to be a bonus action.
