Hi all, one of my backup characters is going to be a level 10 Arcana Cleric using a shield(with holy symbol on it) ,have either a dagger or shortsword and have scale mail. My plan is to use booming blade with the etra wizard cantrips, and in turn be able to add my wis modifier when I hit the target and when the target moves(which in my opinion is way better than divine strike). I do have one dilemma though, My problem is that I can't decide to be a wood elf cleric to get the extra weapon proficiency of the shortsword and the extra movement(as well as other racial abilities), or be a ghostwise halfling with a minus 5 to normal speed, the inability to roll a critical failure, halfling braveness and telepathy.
My point buy stats are(plus my racial stats, which are the same for both races, and ASIs):
As an Arcana Cleric you're probably not going to be doing a whole lot of melee attacking - and when you do you'll likely use Booming Blade over standard attacking so the dice damage for the weapon will be mostly irrelevant. So shortsword over dagger - meh.
I'd go with the Halfling out of the two choices. There's also the Kenku though (same stats) or a Wildhunt Shifter (+1 dex +2 wis). Though I'd probably still choose the Halfling.
Or don't; they're all fine, but there's a flaw in your plan I need to point out. If you pick up Booming Blade from one of the Elven races, the spell will always be considered a Wizard spell for you. It will use Intelligence as your main casting ability score. I recommend picking a utility cantrip that doesn't rely on stats as your Elven cantrip unless your Intelligence is also significantly high.
If you're going Arcana Domain, you can choose Booming Blade as one of the cantrips you get at 1st level from that Domain's feature, and then it will be an actual Cleric spell using Wisdom when you cast it.
You don't know what fear is until you've witnessed a drunk bird divebombing you while carrying a screaming Kobold throwing fire anywhere and everywhere.

Yes, that is what I intended, being an Arcana cleric I would also be able to add my wisdom to the damage of the booming blade, when the attack hits and when the enemy decides to move. My elf race choice was wood elf. Also, booming blade wouldn't use my intelligence for anything, and regullarly my spellcasting ability would have no effect except in the circumstance of being a "potent caster" cleric.

Ok, sounds good I don't think Ebberron is allowed in my campain setting
Choose another race.

Still, thanks for your help!!!
I say wood elf! The extra movement is nice, and so is the weapon training.
Let us know how it goes!!
