EK 4/Tempest 8 - Any reason to think this is sub-par for a multiclass?
It appears to me that EK subclass features synergize really, really well for a bruiser cleric. I usually design to Level 12 because that gives a sense of what will happen at the "sweet spot" of most campaigns.
Combat sequence
Hit opponent with Booming blade
Add in additional 1d8 thunder damage from Divine Strike
Cast spirit weapon if there's a bonus action available. And if feeling generous, Spirit Guardians with the action surge from fighter
Opponent swings.
On a hit, use reaction for Wrath of the Storm. This inflicts unavoidable lightning damage.
Use Thunderbolt Strike to push opponent 10 feet
If opponent approaches again, Booming blade bonus damage is triggered.
This seems like a really fun sequence, but still fits in with a full suite of healing spells and some nice AOE damage. The down side: It's a bit mad, requiring high WIS and DEX/STR. INT isn't needed at all (despite the blurb in the PHB about EK's and Int. Most of the EK spells are going to be defensive anyway.)
With a dex version, Mage Armor can and improve on regular Studded Leather. This allows one to play a melee Aarocokra, which could be unexpected and really, really fun :)
