I have a lot of created homebrew content; some I've made to emulate published 3rd-party content, and more I've created personally. When players in my campaigns create characters, this homebrew content is available for them to select. But when it comes specifically to homebrew subclasses, without being given explicit links to my private homebrew, all of the subclass description is lost to them if selected in the Character Builder. Any other options that are selected when building a character automatically display information regarding the selection, once made. For example:
... Once you choose a Fighting Style, its information in the Description of the Fighting Style is populated into that feature's widget. Or more generally, whenever an option for a feature is selected, the feature's Description field is populated into the widget.
This is true of all features, as far as I've noticed. Continuing with Fighter examples: An Arcane Archer's spell choice in Arcane Archer Lore populates the chosen spell's description; their Arcane Shot Options populate each option's description when selected.
Yet when a Martial Archetype is selected, there is nothing populated:
All of the above holds true for options when viewed on a character sheet:
This would be an excellent place to show at the very least a given subclass's Short Description field, if not the full Description. To my knowledge, a subclass's Short Description is already never visible anywhere, which appears to have been confirmed by others (most recently, by user IamSposta).
This would not only give players a chance to see the background behind some homebrew subclass selections if they haven't previously been sent direct links to the homebrew in question, but it would also allow players to view official subclass descriptions right in the character builder, which is handy for players who don't already have this content practically memorized. At best, official subclasses have only 1-2 sentence descriptions, and at worst, a handful of short paragraphs!
