Ever since Orcs got errata removing their negative intelligence, I've been wondering why we still have three different orc types on DnD Beyond. Acknowledging that Exandria's Orcs differ by having a slightly reduced list of proficiency choices (specifically the removal of Nature), the fact that Eberron Orcs are identical to the errata-updated Volo's Guide release would still reduce the count to 2.
While I'd love for the Exandria Orc to be updated as well so we only have 1 Orc, I know that's Wizard's choice, not DnD Beyond's.
So why doesn't DnD Beyond remove the Eberron Orc as it solely exists for flavor now (like the Theros Centaur and Minotaur which don't have separate entries from their Ravnica equivalents)? Exandria's Orc could in theory be reduced to an Orc variant option, but that's pushing the bounds as it's not explicitly listed as a variant option. Either way, three Orc options are too many.

D&D Beyond looks to represent the source material faithfully. As those options exist in a source, their license is to recreate the material as printed. They don't take liberties to add, remove or change anything in the source unless an errata comes out that specifically does that.
I think the specifics of this situation are missed. I'm not asking for the material to be modified. Orcs are printed in ERftLW. Tritons are printed in Mythic Odysseys of Theros. If the Eberron Orc and Volo's Orc are identical save for flavor text, then either the Eberron Orc should be removed, or other cases of reprinted races should be given separate listings (Examples being Theros Tritons and Centaurs).

You're assuming every single person has every single piece of content. They don't. So for those people who do have everything, yes there are some dupes.
But that's not it either. Artificer was published in multiple books, as were some of the subclasses that got republished in Tasha's. You don't see entries for "Eberron Battlesmith Artificer" or "Sword Coast Bladesinger." As I said, Triton got republished in Theros. It does not have a "Theros Triton" version. The only piece of content that is duplicated (outside of spells like Tasha's Hideous Laughter that got a nameless version in the basic rules) is the Eberron Orc.
