I'm sorry if someone has posted this before but is there a way to increase the ability score cap for characters? My character has just finished reading a Manual of Quickness of Action and I can only see the other modifier option on the abilities page/on the dex sidebar. Is there a way to increase the cap so that when I take an ASI I can increase it?
There are two ways to do this. The first is to edit the character, and in the 3. Abilities portion of the Character Builder, put a 2 in "Other Modifier" under Dexterity. The second way is directly on the character sheet: Click on Dexterity from the scores at the top of the sheet, then put a 2 in "Other Modifier" in the sidebar that pops out.
Alternatively, if you have access to the actual Manual of Quickness of Action, you can simply toggle on the item (or click "Use" from the sidebar for the item), and it will automatically apply the bonus and raised ability score cap!
Edit: Apologies! I see what you mean. Adding the "Other Modifier" still means you can't choose DEX for an ASI. Still working on morning coffee number one, at the moment... One way would be to temporarily remove the extra 2 when choosing your ASI, and then adding it back in afterward. Another way to accomplish this without having the manual on your character would be to create a magic item or a feat with Bonus > Dexterity Score, Fixed Value: 2, and Bonus > Ability Score Maximum, Ability Score: DEX, Fixed Value: 2.
Alright I just wanted to confirm I wasn't really missing anything and it just isn't an implemented feature. I guess I toggled it after I added the other modifier and didn't see it increase from 20 to 22 and that is probably because I had the "Other Modifier" already set. I'll just end up doing what you mention and just reduce the other modifier first and then apply ASI and then add it back.
Thank you for the quick response.
