While the compendium links the SRD, it's odd that it does not have pages for races and classes. In the full version of the site, I wouldn't want to have to build a character to see what a certain feature does or have to level a character to see what all the class features are.
It seems that the OP wasn't referencing to the CB. Instead they are commenting on that the compendium should have race/class info. Example, in the current state of the compendium what is the base walking speed of a Dwarf? You can't find that info, should we have to wait for the character builder? Probably not since that info is right in the basic rules that are given as a reference and states "This section provides all the rules provided in the SRD5.1, released as part of the OGL1.0a."
Exactly. Let's take a possible scenario where I want to play a Rogue but can't decide between Arcane Trickster and Swashbuckler.
If each class is in the compendium, then I can look at the entry read when I get the different subclass and class features all in one entry and have the nice class summary tables. I make my decision and then move on to the builder to create my character.
If I have to rely on a builder (that may only show features once you select them), I have to create a Rogue, chose a race, level it up, select a subclass, choose spells, decide on ASIs, and repeat. Then I have to create a third character that will be the one I actually play (or at least take my selected build back to level 1 and hope I can make adjustments if necessary).
The second option would take so much more time and effort that I'd grab my books and a sheet of paper and skip using this site altogether. After a few times of opting to go the pen and paper route, I'd seriously reconsider if I wanted to subscribe to the service any more.
I imagine that the database will eventually add that stuff. I can't imagine not having it on a finale product. Its a pretty glaring omission as is. There are several posts referencing stuff like that missing.
