Normally, iOS users (iPhone or iPad) can add bookmarks to websites directly to their home screen. Sites usually give these an app icon; it otherwise shows a screenshot of the site, which is ugly.
Right now, D&D Beyond does the screenshot thing. Can we have it show the icon from the D&D Beyond app?
Should be easy because 1) you already have all the right assets if you have an app in the iOS App Store, and 2) it’s as easy as adding a <link> tag to the <head>.
If there's anything that can be done to give a nice icon, please do. (Maybe a slightly different one than the new app, though; something that shows it's the website and not the app.)
This is what the icon looks like on my home scree, and this is what the screen looks like what I hit 'Add to Home Screen' from dndbeyond.com in Safari.
Might be worth posting in the Bug Report forms! They might be able to help you over there, and if they can't, they might be able to point a dev to your issue!
Are you on desktop view or mobile view while on iOS?
Well, I'm on mobile view. However, I did, a while back, briefly switch to desktop and then back to mobile. Realizing this (and you can see from one of my comments above) I cleared my caches on mobile Safari to ensure it was "clean."
Yeah, I tried all the above steps and can't get it to work (homepage or internal, mobile or desktop view).
Edit: Looking in web inspector, I'm not seeing the <link ref="apple-touch-icon" etc.../> tags in either view, mobile or desktop. There is a link tag for "shortcut icon," but that deals with the favicon.
Not sure why they are showing up for some people, but not others. Maybe they are being added dynamically with JS after page-load? Not sure why they would be, though…
Also, I tried with/without content-blockers on, and it has no effect.

Thanks!
It's working for me.
I get a silly screenshot, not a pretty icon.

Like @Barbarulo I also get a good looking icon. Maybe remove it and try again?
Exactly which page did you save to desktop? Maybe the exactly link matters. I did it on three devices and all three got stupid screenshot icons.
Doesn't seem to matter. I did it with the main page, but showing the icon if I go to do it from other pages as well.
iOS?

I'm on an iPhone X, iOS 11.2.6
Not sure how yo got those images posted into this thread or I'd show you what it looks like on mine. Needless to say, it's a screenshot.
I took the screenshot, uploaded the images to Imgur, then used the built in image embed tool within dndbeyond's forum to upload the images!
Argh! I want to show you how mine looks but I can't get the image embedded. Do I need to put sizes in or just the imgur link?
Here we go:
Oh yeah huh, that’s weird. I’m assuming it’s an iOS bug, but I don’t know how it gets the icon that it does. Maybe based on the sites favicon?
OK, so I just tried clearing my website data on my phone. Still no go.

Anyone get this working?
If not, can a mod move this thread to the bugs forum?
Seems related to this thread, but the character portrait as icon if you put your character sheet on your homepage would be nice.
