How many spells describe what it will do "for the duration" but then immediately (or sometimes much later) list ways that the spell ends early? It gets my hopes up and then I find out the target gets a saving throw every turn or something. Just seems clunky.
I honestly prefer spells that describe what it can do, cannot do and how it can be countered or ended. Gives me clarity about it.. but that is my personal preference.
A spell’s duration is the length of time that the spell persists. If a spell ends early, so does its duration because by definition, it isn’t persisting anymore.
I suppose they could change all the durations to "no more than x minutes" but that would probably also cause confusion especially for spells that can be upcaste for a longer duration.

Do you have an example of a spell?
