Just Out of pure curiosity, why isn't the sale accesible through the store in the app that dndbeyond is pushing so much? It seems completely unsensible to me
The app is essentially a separate store front hosted by Google or Apple. Google and Apple takes a large fraction of revenue through their store front, so Beyond would probably actually lose money if they applied a sales there. If you do not want to pay a mark price, do not use a middle man (Google and Apple) and purchase it directly from the seller (Beyond's website).
A lot of times stores will offer sales on one distribution channel but not another. If you used any fast food apps for example (I use McDonald's and Wendy's), the deals offered in apps is often different from the ones offered in store. Even for Nintendo, the deals offered in their eShop is often more generous than the deals offered in their physical stores, if they offer any at their physical store, and they certainly would not be offering the same deals at third party stores like Walmart or Amazon.
