Recently I have noticed a few old threads reappearing back at the top of forums, generally people adding responses to them a year or 2 after they have last been active.
Is it possible to have a feature that auto closes down threads after a certain period of inactivity? 6 months or a year seem fair, the thread would remain for anyone to read but no one would be able to post new comments to it. As an additional tweak you could make it that the person who created the thread is able to reactivate it, for instance if they want to give an update. But no one else is able to.
Thread necromancy used to be an offense on DnD Beyond, but the policy now is that thread necromancy is completely okay as long as it is topical. Moderators reasoned that any input by a user years later may be relevant to anyone who stumbles upon the same thread.

yeah, there was an orange text update a while back for this. i dont agree, but it's not my forums. my biggest gripe with thread necros is that it's usually a one post user saying something very ignorant and the argument lasts years after they're long gone.
