I was making a character for a campaign that I'm in, and went to go check for a magic item in the site section. However when I returned to my characters list, it was telling me my subscription was back to a free one, even though I had literally purchased the hero subscription about 2 hours ago, I even checked my bank account and the money is still gone. 

It's possible you have two different accounts, via different login methods (twitch vs google, for example). You might have to put in a ticket with support (via the 'Contact Us' link in the footer, since anything having to do with accounts and payments really has to be handled by them.
