I think by this point it's pretty clear that if older settings get any kind of content at all, it's going to be fairly bare bones. That means a lot of homebrew content out there replicating these older settings in 5e rules!
What do people think about search functionality with Beyond so people can seek out content by keywords (like the names of settings or specific features of settings like polities or monsters or classes or races unique to the settings) so we can all find the homebrew efforts to keep older settings alive in as rich and full a sense (or richer and fuller a sense) as WotC has with Forgotten Realms?
I'd be for this even if it was just having forums with links to created content about the settings. I also wonder what the copyright situation would be with posting any converted content in the forums or on their servers in general.

Hopefully no copyright situation at all when it comes to stuff they're doing absolutely nothing with lmao
One would hope, but I don' think that Wizards would see it that way. I especially worry about art or maps from old settings, and wonder if they would allow their use if someone put in the work to convert an old setting.

In what way has this been made clear? I try to stay on the up and up here and I haven't gotten that feeling whatsoever. In fact, I was under the impression that we'd see one or two by the end of 2018 (my money is on Eberron & Dragonlance).

Didn't see they'd announced plans for new settings! That'd be great, Eberron and Planescape are two settings it would be cool to revive for 5e, same with Spelljammer and Dark Sun. It'd be interesting to see what they choose.
There's the Unearthed Arcana for updating Eberron to 5e so they could just have access to the old stuff and call it even. But a full on new book specifically for 5e would be cool.

I don't think they've officially announced anything yet, but especially with the Eberron to 5e UA mentioned above, I think it's very likely.

I'm holding off on hoping for even just a core book release until the release announcement, they barely dipped a toe in Ravenloft and that might be prefiguring the extent to which they tip their hat at another setting before moving on back to the core FR line releases and picking a new setting for a big adventure release. We don't know yet!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they reference pantheons from earlier settings (Greyhawk, Dragonlance) in the 5E PH/DMG, so I presume that should have opened the door for adventure series (I kinda like the idea of releasing Pathfinder-like adventure paths instead of the hardcover campaign compendiums). Curse of Strahd/Ravenloft is a good example.
I'd love for them to produce any new setting. I wonder if the hesitation on publishing a new setting is there are so many to choose from that they have analysis paralysis trying to pick one (and annoy people who wanted a different one). Maybe they do a setting compendium of some sort, perhaps with 50-60 page write-ups of several settings. This might at least open up new settings to the DM's Guild. I know Kieth Baker has expressed an interest in producing Eberron content there (which I would personally happily pay for).

Yeah I do hope they eventually change gears on the business decision not to have multiple setting lines out, and I also saw that Keith Baker was saying that on his blog (from way back, and repeatedly as time goes on lmao)...maybe they're not sure of the viability of the popularity of the other lines or something? I mean they could always do polls/community survey stuff on their website if they wanted to know what settings to pick, I think it's less analysis paralysis than a business decision about what "makes sense" from some $$ perspective or another.
