I recently worked on some details for a forest gnome I created and realized the encumbrance/carry weight calculations are incorrect for him. Gnomes are small in size, so he can only carry half of the calculated value. His strength is 10, so a medium creature could carry 150 pounds, but he should only be able to carry 75. The only reason it caught my eye is because of the comical aspect of my level 1 druid who weights only 38 pounds is stacked with 90+ pounds of gear and that didn't feel right to me.
This is actually correct. Small creatures have the same carry weight as medium. From carry capacity rules:
Size and Strength. Larger creatures can bear more weight, whereas Tiny creatures can carry less. For each size category above Medium, double the creature's carrying capacity and the amount it can push, drag, or lift. For a Tiny creature, halve these weights.
It isn't very realistic, but is for balanced gameplay.
