Sort by newest created post rather than or including latest response. Quite often you can sort by latest response and get post that was created years ago.
Turn off commenting on posts created more than 12 to 18 months ago.
I mean, your probably not gonna see the 12-18 month thing, there are still posts from over 4 years ago that are being talked about, you can unsubscribe from posts though so you dont see it
