I know I bought several books years ago but I just got on and now I don't have them? I have had the memeber ship upgrade a few times and let it drop back down to basic then restarted it
You purchased the books here, on Beyond? If you're talking physical books or on some other platform like Roll20, that's a whole different can of worms. But if you're saying you bought them here, that's definitely a problem.
Are you sure you're logged into the same account and didn't accidentally create a new one? For example, maybe you signed in using Twitch in the past, but you just "signed in" through Google and thus unwittingly created a new account?
If that's not the case, you can try syncing your entitlements from your profile/settings, but you'll probably have to reach out to support. Support can move a little slow, especially as they clear out the backlog from taking a break for the holidays. Only submit 1 ticket... tickets are grouped by account and prioritized based on the most recent ticket opened, so any tickets after the first will just push you back in line.
Yep, what Rellott said. DDB content purchases are not tied to whether or not you have an active subscription (though subscriptions do grant other benefits).
If you bought books on DDB in the past but you're no longer able to access them, make sure you're using the same account. Reach out to D&D Beyond Support if you're not able to resolve it yourself.
