I would love to be able to organize my characters a little better. Have the option to put them into folders for like "Dead" "Currently Unused" "Concept Characters for Proof" stuff like that.
I was literally about to post this! Idk how to give this post more traction but this please DnD Beyond!
Lol, me too! It's like,3 am here, I was in bed trying to sleep, and thought, dang, character folders would be great! I should post this idea on the forum, and wouldn't you know it, but someone beat me to it! Lol.
It would be great if we could make folders to put our characters in. Like, rather then one long list, we can have a ",dead" folder,a "WIP" folder, "backup character" folder, and DMS could even have a " NPC folder" and "enemy" folder,
Just took a look on the feedback forums. Apparently it IS planned, but they have a lot of other things going on, what with support for the mobile apps (and it looks like they are working on consolidating the app) and the release of TCoE. Then again they said they had it planned 2 years ago... so who knows.
While waiting for folders to be implemented, you may want to consider managing your characters via My Campaigns. My Campaigns is already basically a collection of folders of characters, so you can just name a campaign with something like "ZZZ — Character Concepts", "ZZZ — Retired Characters", "ZZZ — Ready to Use", and so on. If you want to have your character folder appear after your campaigns, you can use "ZZZ" in the campaign name, but if you want them to appear before your campaigns, then you could use "000" in the campaign name.
I would absolutely LOVE to see this feature, but somehow, I honestly doubt we will ever see something like this, People have been asking for it since way back to 2018, so 4 years going now....
