When I quote someone I usually edit out irrelevant information so that people know exactly what I'm replying to rather than having to read the entire person's entry, or my entry. But these forums seem to nest quotes and when you try to delete nested quotes, it... is weird. Creates a weird thing where it uses the deleted quote's nesting level for someone else's content.
Here's a for instance showing the default quoting method and then the deleted version:
Sometimes all I want to quote is the immediate reply, not the quotes already in the previous post, to avoid building up giant quote pyramids. But it goes funky when you attempt the delete it.
