I agree and have been asking for this since at least 2022.
Simply adding chat features to the game log would make all the individual tools which use the game log coherent. Everything else is already done there except basic communication. My only other request would be a LFG queue feature which would allow people actively seeking a DM to find someone ready to play now rather than scheduling. Granted this is a very different idea of how most people/services which currently exist schedule games but would allow games to get put together more quickly thus allowing more players to play.

No with the advent of the maps tool, putting text into the game log would be way to make D&DBeyond a complete solution for running the game.
