So I was trying to add a Martial Weapons proficiency to one of my characters and it appears you can't add weapon proficiency by category of weapon, you have to go through and individually add each weapon your character is proficient with.
For example, the character is a monk, so from his class and race, he gains proficiency with short swords and Simple Weapons. But when you go to add weapon proficiency(in this case, DM allowed due to leisure time activity), i can't add a Martial Weapons proficiency to cut out the middle man of going through and adding every Martial Weapon to his proficiency list.
Yes, i know there is a feat or two like Weapon Master that allows you to add proficiency with Martial Weapons, but that limits you to 4 choices and doesn't apply to a character who specifically trained with a variety of weapons enough to become proficient with Martial Weapons overall.
Can we get this patched please? It seems like an honest oversight and relatively simple to fix(but it may not be, idk)
You can create a homebrew feat with the modifier 'proficiency' and select 'martial weapons.' That should allow you to get them all at once. Not quite as quick as the sidebar, but still quicker (and cleaner) than granting proficiency in each individual weapon.
