One reason people choose to buy physical books directly from D&D Beyond is because it is the only way to get a discount on the digital version of the book is by bundling on the website -- you can't get any sort of discount if you buy the book in your local gaming store. This puts local stores at a disadvantage, which is concerning, considering how much the tabletop gaming industry benefits from having these stores to host D&D events and promote the product.
This could be easily rectified by providing promotional codes for digital version discounts, but I have yet to see that actually happen. This suggestion has been brought up multiple times in the past on this forum, but all of those posts predated WoTC's 2022 acquisition of D&D Beyond, so at the time, providing such discounts were not feasible. They are now. WoTC, stop being so greedy.
