My character is a barbarian using a shield as their only weapon. The shield has a thrown weapon and returning feature. When i create a custom action button for the attack i notice the rage bonus does not automatically apply like it does with handaxes and other STR weapons. The old rage feature specified only melee attacks but the 2024 rules do not. i understand this is a niche issue but i wanted to point it out.

I've never seen the rage bonus automatically applied to any attacks. Vanilla dndbeyond does not have temporary effects other than the Conditions sidebar.
I've made a homebrew magic item that adds the extra damage (and advantage on STR saves and checks notification) when equipped but that only works for STR based weapon attacks. The Beyond20 extension can automatically add it though you have to turn rage on it its options or use a key combination to activate it.

There is now support for some temporary effects, including Barbarian Rage (only for the 2024 version of the class, though). It does work on normal attack actions, but not on custom actions.

Haven't checked out any 2024 builds yet. The whole new version/not new version has a sour taste in my mouth for the entire game.
