I didn't think it had been that long since they stopped doing the à la carte purchases for new books (apparently that started in 2019?) but am I seeing correctly that they removed it from older books and that you can no longer filter the marketplace by what you already own? And that you have to contact support for the discount now? WTF is that all about?
Yeah, it is a pain to go through customer support to get the discount. Bare in mind if you do want to go through that route and submit a ticket, it will take a long while before they will get to your ticket.
Wizards messed up the physical portion of physical-digital bundle for the new core books, and they have a lot of shipping issues. I am fortunate and I got my books on time, but a lot of people did not get their books until much later. There were also a lot of issues with making the purchase itself, and people either had issue with going through checkout, or had issues a little later with their banks concerning that transaction.
It is also holiday season, and people are on vacation, so getting a response will take longer than usual.
Besides Beyond, other official digital tools include Roll20, Fantasy Grounds, and Foundry. Check them out to see if they are tailored to your needs better. However, Beyond was the only digital platform that offered à la carte purchases, and no other digital platform offers it. So if you are looking to save money, your best bet is to ask your D&D community for help, and see if anyone can help give you access, either on Beyond or on another platform. If you just need one or two items, and assuming they are something simple, then it may be quicker to just use the homebrew tools and recreate it yourself.
Its been in general the next day for me with these types of tickets. At most I've waited 2 days. But I haven't made such purchase during holidays, and they have a lot a back up tickets right now.
Also the ticket solution is likely because ripping out the ala cart code wholesale is easier than piecemeal. Though it also makes it us responsible to remember if we have the discount, which can appear shady, but likely not the intent.
