If we can have The Crooked Moon work for 2014 characters...would it be too much to ask for the Valda's Spire of Secrets content past & future "Packs" to get the same treatment? & any other 3rd-party dev that was known to have offered both?
I think this is a fair ask.

Always study & sharpen philosophical razors. They save a lot of trouble.
I'd like to think the recent change to disable 2024 rules, is an indication that they realise they need to support 2014 for the forseeable future, if they want to continue building revenue. It was the big worry they had when intending to make D&D 6.0 instead of 5.24.
What would be really good is that they never feel the need to completely build 6.0, and just continue making "Refinements". And all the old books work with new, and the new books work with old. But then in 10 years, I'm sure there will be plenty of things that people will want to change, so the community might be ready for a 6.0.
