When you choose your companion, it only shows it's stat block in the class feature. You can't add it as an extra, thus you don't have a ready made token to add to the virtual tabletop. For all intents and purposes, shouldn't it work similar to the Artificer tiny construct where you can add it as an extra and rename it so you have the ready made token for the board? With only three options I would not think it would be too difficult to make the placeholder tokens that could be re-skinned afterward by players to match whatever creature they've chosen to be their companion.
