My whole campaign is scrambled because now with the newest update the maps are in alphabetical order why tf would i want this nobody would want this. I have several hundred hours into this campaign and its all fckd now because i dont know the chronological order from my head and would need to search every map manually instead of just having them in order.
Uploaded maps can be sorted alphabetically or in upload order, but yeah, maps in a campaign cannot. Really wish they would just give us nested folders for Maps... I don't use DDB for campaigns rn purely because Maps VTT is such a goddamn pain to organize.
I'm not a fan of the update feature at all. I'd sorted my campaign maps into a logical order (which was already difficult since we can't move them around ourselves), and now all of that has been ruined.
This was an intentional change in the latest update to allow DMs to sort maps. You can rename a map and use the alphabetical sorting to determine order. So if you want a map to be first, name it "1. Map name" for example
Who asked for this???? I have 200+ maps set, and now I have no idea where tf anything is. Make it optional, genuinely baffling choice. Instead of making them sortable by request, they made it alphabetical by default without warning.
Side note that I didn't put, they really need to either just remove this fully, or make it a setting, because I do not have the time to sit down and re name 200 maps. And I don't doubt many others are in the same boat.
So I also have nearly 50 maps or so set up and I had them in the order I wanted them in from when players would go to or from etc. Now this is all messed up and I'm like "Wtf am I looking at!?!" Now I have to do extra work to reassemble my map order because I am beyond confused as to what order I'm in now ><;
I see the frustration. I got worried about this as well when I saw the change, but it's actually a huge step in the right direction.
Before this update it was not possible to organize maps in any sane way. It was not possible to rename maps, so if a name didn't make sense (or was incorrect!) you were stuck with a bad map name making it extra hard to find. The order was locked to "time of upload", going from oldest to newest, and it was not possible to rearrange this. So, if you wanted to inject an additional map somewhere in the middle, you would have to delete every single map in the lower half, and re-add them one by one in the order you wanted. If you think renaming 100+ maps is a pain now, it's absolutely nothing compared to THAT pain, especially since it meant losing all map data! Now it's actually possible to organize maps into categories by renaming them. You can even add numbers in the names if you want precise ordering.
It's far from perfect, but it's better than before. At some point I'm sure they will add a folder structure and let us freely set map ordering inside each folder - it's the ONLY logical goal to work towards.
Lastly I would just say that this is clearly stated as a work in progress system. I don't think going balls to the walls and throwing 200 maps into the system and expect that all functionality will remain completely unchanged as the system continues to grow is a smart thing to do. Expect many changes while the system is being further developed.
Not the point though, it'd be a good update if it were OPTIONAL, instead of actually making that sortable choice, they forced us all into one corner. For people who have 100+ maps, this is a nightmare, as I with my total count of 455 need to spend hours fixing it. (did the math on my rate, it would take 20H)
I’m not sure if I missed it being announced before the update, if I missed it that’s on me, if you didn’t give us warning in advance it’s on you. I’ve a lot of reorganization to do now.

I just found out you can rename (and thereby re-order) your campaign maps using the new DM Prep tool (shortcut key P)
so now I'm gonna number all my maps in front of the actual name for them :P

Same... kinda panic when all of my maps reshuffle. They didn't really make it clear that you can rename them through the new planning tool.

All my campaigns are scrambled and every sloppily named map has now compounded. Can we just reorder campaigns

this update is atrocious
Yeah the alphabetic ordering should without a doubt have been an option
