As a DM, it would be great if I could "send" and item to one of the characters in my game rather than just going into their sheet and adding the item to their inventory. I'm imaging a unique url that, when clicked by the player, would open the description of the item and an "add to character" button. That way I can send the player a "you found this... " message and when the click they get all of the info they want and can add it from there. It's a little "nice to have" but eliminates the player from having to first search for the item to read about it and then go to their character sheet and search for it again to add it to inventory.

Every item already has a unique link, observable when clicking the "View Details Page" in the item listing. Could the item page itself not be used for this purpose, as it contains a "Add to Collection" button?
Hmm. I look at https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/potion-of-healing, for example, and don't see an "Add to Collection" button, just "Magic Item Rules", "Create Magic Item", and "Browse Homebrew". Does that button add the item to a character inventory? That *would* satisfy the scenario... how can I get the "Add to Collection" button?

I like this idea
I just want to tell everyone "happy gaming" and actually mean it. Whatever your game is, just have fun with it, it is after all, just a game.
