When browsing official content under Game Rules (ie: Monsters, Spells, Magic Items), it would be nice to have a "Is Owned" filter to only show content that you have access to. Currently there are only two types of content based filters:
Source: Books (DMG, PHb, XGtE) and Modules/Adventures
Source Category: Core D&D, Eberron, etc.
My issue is that, when searching for content, I do not own all of the source material available on D&D Beyond and there is no easy way for me to only view content that I own besides going in and selecting all of the Source fields that I've purchased. This is problematic when I'm browsing for content ideas because I either have to take a solid chunk of time to setup all of my Source filters again, otherwise I'll see content that I don't own and have to manually ignore a ton of content to find what I'm looking for.
If possible, I'd like to see a way to either:
Have a Is Owned filter for content like Monsters, Spells, Magic Items, etc.
Have a way to Save Filters so I could setup a filter of owned content once and then easily apply that to future searches
Hopefully I did not miss this existing functionality somewhere already - would be happy to find that this already exists! :)
Thus has been requested a few times and I agree. Not sure if/when it will be implemented. There are quite a few search and filter improvements that could be made.
i just really want to bump this. manually adding all your sourcebooks during search is the single worst UX experience on the website right now
I would argue that the search is the worst UX on the site right now. Multiple identical results, doesn't sort by relevance, no term grouping or exclusion at all, doesn't handle word tense (encumber, encumbered, and encumbrance get different results). Trying to search for a rule you don't know, is by far the worst experience. Far worse than having to filter by source manually.
Filter unowned content is still a feature that should be added, just needed to correct that.
+1 - finding monsters to build encounters and then seeing "Hey! Wanna spend another $25 for this digital book?" is SUCH a turnoff.
This is on purpose as you could own the physical book which many people do. It allows you to use those monsters in that case without having to buy the book or monster first.
I do agree that a toggle to turn it off would be nice for some people though.

On this note, a toggle in the store to filter out owned material would also be useful... and likely help with sales.
In the store, purchased items are automatically filtered out unless we specifically flip the toggle for “show items I own.”
When I look up a rule, often the first few results I find are Rick and Morty content. I would really appreciate the ability to filter out certain content; like the Rick and Morty content, like content that I haven't purchased, etc.
The more content I have purchased over time, the more having a filter for owned (and not owned) content would be a huge benefit for the monster and spell listings.
Character creation handles this automatically by not providing options that aren't available, it would be great to have that kind of option when searching for monsters, magic items, etc.
For example, previously I was able to just select the Monster Manual and Volo's for a complete list of monsters that I had access to. Now that I have 5 or more books that I can't really remember off the top of my head I need to add each one if I filter to avoid getting back a ton of unavailable monsters from sources I will never own like the setting specific content (Rick and Morty, Ravenica(sp), etc.)
A filter to choose between All content, Owned content, and Unowned content would be best.
I strongly agree - would love the ability to filter to see 'all content' / 'only what I own' / 'only what I don't own' when searching. Particularly for monsters/items etc. As someone with no hard copies of books, the latter two would be really useful for quickly building encounters when I'm short on time, or alternatively, when I have time to spare exploring to find something new and interesting
It's a really basic feature and well... it's really annoying to continually stumble in the hideous paywall when exploring contents you bought. Total turn-off.

Wait. What paywalls are you finding in content you bought?

You're right, the paywalls are just one click away. But i forgot how many times i clicked on a link because IS NOT CLEAR what you own and what you don't. So in 2020 maybe we can get a simple filter to access only the content you bought.
Any news if they are going to add this? I don't want random spells class features ect from random books in my game.
They would only be to characters in your game if you (or someone else in the game) owned them and were sharing them. This thread is asking to filter out unowned sourced from the lists in game rules.

Also agree this is a desperately needed filter!
I just ran into this issue and I second this request.
Please add this, at least it should be an option for subscribers as we are the ones that are clearly trying to make DnDBeyond our primary resource.

Better Filter options are definitely needed.
Hello!
If the option to chose "owned sources" is not valid, at least we could have on top of the list the ones we own.
Any news if they are going to add this? I don't want random spells class features ect from random books in my game.
