I just got an account for the free Essentials download. I have to say I am not impressed.
It is horrible to try and navigate this interface. Had to do a google search to figure out my unlocked content is at https://www.dndbeyond.com/compendium.
Get there and the only way to get to content you own is by digging through all the stuff you don’t own.
Find something you do own and the menus move from the top to the bottom in one of those boxes usually reserved for footers and ‘contact us/legal mumbo jumbo.’ It isn’t very intuitive with web design from the last 10 years. Visually you are drawn to the big green box on the right that seems like it would open the content. Frustratingly it just opens a picture. If you require a tutorial on how to navigate your site, you might be doing it wrong.
Perhaps move the footer box menu to the left side like it is when you actually open the content. Moving menus is also an inconsistent design. Skip the empty link page and go directly to the content. Introduction immediately displayed. As a commerce site I assume you aren’t getting paid by page views. Less clicks to get to owned content. Less clicks to buy new content.
I get it you want to sell stuff, but making it a pain to use the stuff I do own doesn’t encourage me to buy anything on this site.
You can find all the books in the menus under sources.
Hiding or at least greying out and/or sorting down unowned content is a popular request they they do really need to do.
Not sure what you are talking about with headers, footers, and left and right menu issues. There may be 1 or 2 headers for notices (legal notices are given and new discount codes are released that way), but they shouldn't be a pervasive problem after clicking dismiss.
The interface is not hard to use and very convenient to have. The 2 biggest issues are scrolling through unowned content and some navigation sidebars getting too long and going past bottom of screen.
