So I'm getting back into dnd and decided to go buy about 160 dollars worth of books to catch up with the group and create a fun character only to find out that dnd beyond character creator won't let me use the race I want and likely class because I don't "own" the book on the app. AKA they would be double dipping into my pocket which is pretty sleazy. Due to the fact that there is no code entry or anything to prove you own the book to then show up on the app is pretty upsetting. Yall got my business and I'm gonna play but ain't spending a dime on the app till yall figure a way to give credit to people who own the physical copies. To be precise I own Tasha's cauldron of everything, Xanathar's guide to everything, the player's handbook, and monsters of the multiverse. [REDACTED]
I would have suggested doing some research before investing so much money in something before you had all the details of how this business currently operates. Hindsight is 20/20 and I'm sorry you feel slighted.
Perhaps someone else wanting to get into dungeons and dragons and is curious to the most affordable way to pickup this hobby will see this post, as well as the hundreds of other ones referencing the topic of physical copies and digital access, and ask the appropriate questions before investing hundreds of dollars in the wrong version of the product they want.

It's simply not going to happen. D&D Beyond is in no way, shape, or form required to play the game just like Fantasy Grounds, Talespire, etc.
