I would like to be able to set custom values for when my magic subclasses learn new spells. Currently, each class has a predetermined order of when they learn new spells, should they be given a spellcasting/pact-magic subclass, including barbarian and monk oddly enough.
This would be made viable by the addition of base classes and is outside of the subclass functionality. Spell progression is always a full class feature. But full class homebrew is on the roadmap
Every full caster learns an additional cantrip at level 4 and 10. Every 3rd caster learns an additional cantrip at level 10. The artificer is the only half caster with cantrips, and it learns more at level 10 and 14.
It isn't exactly "in the rules" but seeing as how official content is consistent in this manner, DDB created the system to reflect that.
We may get more control when the homebrew tools are revamped.
