Add "display: standalone" to the websites manifest.json file so that it appears almost like a native app if you make a bookmark to it on Android devices. Should only take a developer a few minutes to implement.
As a developer I can say it has zero chance of having any adverse effects whatsoever, but I accept your argument that it takes a long time to get management to sign off on it, thinking back I remember not being allowed to add theme colors (the color of the search bar in chrome on android) to a company website to make it look nicer on android devices because management didnt like that it would make the site appear different on android vs iphone.

Should take a little longer for a producer to sign off on the change after...
A dev assesses the likelihood of it causing any knock on effects...
After a lead dev or team leader assigns someone off of an existing task to work on the assessment...
And once the prod has signed off on it, it'll then take a dev a few minutes to implement....
But QA several person hours, if not days, to full test that a) it works as intended and b) it doesn't cause any new issues
No change, no matter how small, ever takes 'just a few minutes'
