I think having the ability to filter rule source options would be valuable. Sometimes a gaming group does not use all the options. Having the ability for players to filter at the character creation level, or for a DM to set a restriction at the campaign level would alleviate the burden of having to check the source of every option.
Having spent some time making characters on the site I've seen where it could become a burden—especially with spells. I'd rather go to my character home page and—just under the "do you want an unarmed attack" toggle—and pick from a list of available sources. That would be super helpful for making Adventurers' League characters since I could pick Players Handbook plus Volo's Guide to Monsters and have Sword Coast Adventurers' Guide and Xanathar's Guide to Everything filtered out.
At a campaign level a DM could say, "Sure use everything! Put it all in the pot" and leave it as is. Or maybe Wizards of the Coast releases some future book full of weird planar magic spells and alternate class options, and equipment and the DM doesn't want those in their campaign. That could be filtered with a simple check box at the campaign level.
Optional, flexible, and under the control of person creating the character or campaign.
