Maybe I've gotten spoiled by other websites, where you can make a post, realize you screwed up a quote or made a typo, and if you edit it fast enough it doesn't flag as edited.
In the Forums, any edit (no matter how close to posting time) causes this big Last edited by Author: flag at the bottom of the post.
Any chance that they can put in some sort of grace period, where you can quickly fix an unintentional mistake without that gaudy flag attaching?

I never understood why it mattered that you edited your post. I mean that it says "Last edited..." doesn't impact much on the readers.
It's mostly to stop people from pulling shenanigans.
Poster A makes a controversial post.
Posters B, C, and D rebut the post.
Poster A goes back and edits his post to remove the controversy and/or rewords it to make the other posters look bad.
