Anything that's not a weapon or armor is an item, that's how the core rules of D&D are set up.
From within item, there are various subcategories such as wand, potion, rod, ring and, the most common one, wonderous item. For example bracers of defence and boots of the winterlands are both wonderous items.
D&D Beyond can't add categories for items, magic or otherwise, that don't actually exist in the rules already
