With Mythic Odysseys of Theros, we get a new sourcebook that uses many content from other sourcebooks, like Centaur, Triton, and Minautor. Some minor issues have been raised when using the character builder, like reces from an other source not having the Theros description, etc. I understand that many of the raised issues are due to the way DnD Beyond content is set up.
I tought about two ideas that could help minimize the impact of some of the issues raised:
While the races are mechanically the same, when you click to pick a race, could a link with the Theros reference be added to the popup description? i.e. If I'm in the character builder and click on the Centaur race, a popup with a short description open and ask me to confirme race selection. In this description there is a link for the "Centaur Details Page" which link to the Ravnica version of the Centaur. I think it could be possible to have both a link to Ravnica and Theros Details. This way, if later on in D&D future, there is another sourcebook that use Centaurs mechanically the same way, then the only thing DnD Beyond will need to do is add a link to the new sourceboook description.
Also, it would be nice if when you select a sourcebook in the caracter builder, that it shows up all the options for the book, even those provided from an other source. i.e. by selecting Mythic Odyssesys of Theros as your sourcebook in the Race section of the character builder, it would list: Human, Centaur, Leonin, Minautor, Satyr and Triton, instead of just Leonin and Satyr as it is now.
What do you think? Would such small changes be a good compromise?
Yes. It is the same with Volo's guide to monsters. Several of the race's in volo's aren't in the character builder. So please add them.
uh... all of the playable races in Volo's are in the character builder, if you have purchased Volo's Guide.
