Just had an amazing thought: Allow us the option to subscribe to specific headings/tags/filters for the forums, like the Recruiting posts in the Play-by-Post forum. Preferably with an option to just get notified when a new thread matching your subscribed tags pops up.
Probably a pain in the neck to implement, but is a thought.
