It would be easier (and cleaner) to have separate subforums.
Both of these require people to use them consistently, and they won't.
Color coding is a matter of encoding information for quicker processing. That’s why we developed the ability to see in color in the first place.

As a software developer who has seen a lot of UI mockups by "designers", I can say without any doubt, that colour used badly throws your brain off track more easily, than if it were black and white text.
