Is it possible to "convert" physical books to digital ones? For example, if I want to use the character creator and make an artificer and I have a physical copy of Tasha's would I be able to show some kind of proof that I have the book to be able to use the content from that book in the creator and in other things?

No (but sort of),
Because this website is a book store, so purchasing things on here is like purchasing them from Walmart. You need to buy the things here in order to get access to them. Buying a book somewhere else does not get you access to the stuff here, because you bought it somewhere else. You wouldn't ask Walmart for free access to stuff if you ordered through amazon.
However, SOME things can be privately homebrewed on the site for your own use.
you can also buy just the pieces of the book you want by going to the marketplace if you open up Tasha's go to the articifer subclasses. buy the subclass you want and it will include the class. That is usually $2 or so. Unfortunately since the articifer isn't one of the base classes you must buy it to use it though you can homebrew other subclasses if you buy the one. Please note: it is well worth the time to not build everything from scratch as there is some real effort to learn and use the homebrew tools.
