Remove the “Set Level” and “Set XP” options from the Manage XP drop-down part of the Character Sheet. It should just have “Add XP” and “Remove XP”.
Reason: Less confusion. Make it operation simpler: Open XP tab, type XP, enter. The first box to type into when going to add XP should definitely not be the one for setting total XP, leads to mistakes.
Examples: I have almost typed into the wrong box on several occasions but caught myself. Our DM just wiped out a player’s XP count when updating his sheet while he was away. That character is currently level 4 but now has a total of 130 XP. There’s no “undo” option so we don’t know what he had.
The "Manage Levels” drop-down option is there for managing levels and total XP, including it in “Manage XP” as well adds unnecessary confusion.
“Manage XP” on the character sheet should have only the option players use when managing XP for their character, that is Adding (or Subtracting) XP.
My group usually uses milestones, but when we used Exp we didn't have any issues with it. It works the same way physical character sheets do.
But since it is digital, I don't see why there can't be improvements over the normal way. So rather than removing the set options, maybe just add the add/remove boxes.
That way we have the normal way every one is used to and the easy way.
Yeah so the “Manage XP” part of the character sheet starts with “set level”, then “set XP”, then the final options in the window are Add and Remove XP.
Considering the first two options are a very good way of completely messing up your XP tracking, what I’m suggesting is this:
Restricting the “set level” and “set XP” options to only the “Manage Levels” part of the character sheet, or in other words removing them from “Manage XP”, so that the only options in “Manage XP” are Add XP and Remove XP.
Oh right. Been a while since I clicked manage experience.
Clicking manage level brings you to the builder, where you still have to click on manage experience and use a similar interface.
So... It works like it should. Just try not to click the wrong box. Do you have issues with the currency interface and accidently add 10pp when you meant to add 10gp?
This does remind me of another request to have a character sheet changelog. Maybe this is what you actually need rather than removing features.
Yeah, both Manage Levels and Manage XP have all three options. All the campaigns I’m in use XP so I’m pretty used to dealing with it by now, but it’s not the most logical or sensible way of laying things out. I think separating them out would improve the user experience.
An XP log would be handy for fixing the problems caused by the confusing design, but prevention is better than cure.
Title pretty much says it:

Hi DxJxC!

Does that make more sense?

As a counterpoint, I'm playing in a campaign where the DM tells us our total XP so `Set XP` is exactly what I need.
