I completely understand adjusting the UI of the digital sheets is alot of extensive work that will take time and manpower away from other endeavors, and isn't really necessary, but I would love to at least see an option for us to choose whether to use the 2014 CS or 2024 CS layouts when Exporting to PDF in character builder.
It's disappointing trying out the new 2024 rules, but we can't even use the 2024 character sheets (yes we can write it out by hand, but it really would be efficient to have the export feature too!)
Is this being planned or looked into? I do not keep up to date with all the plans and roadmaps, so apologies if this has already been addressed.
I run a D&D Club at my library, and it's a little confusing to tell people we're using 2024 rules, and then hand them a pre-generated character on a 2014 sheet. 🙃

What information is specifically missing in the 2014 sheet that the 2024 sheet has? As in, what doesn't show up that should? Given that there's a multitude of custom sheets out there, and the 2024 rules are compatible with the 2014-style sheet (with all changes between them being purely cosmetic), any confusion is purely self-inflicted.
That's not to say the feature wouldn't be nice, but the confusion stuck out as an odd thing.
Anyway, the absolute best option would be for us to gain a "Download (2024 Format)" button and keep the old button but relabel it to "Download (2014 Format)". Don't change the button availability at all based on character choices, just leave both available to everyone.

I suspect it's less "missing information" and more "information isn't where the book says it should be". Everything seems to have been shuffled around in the redesign, and if you're referencing the 2024 PHB that's going to confuse things. I don't think it's fair to call that confusion "self-inflicted", especially as a D&D club is likely to be onboarding new players fairly regularly.
It's also just a bit odd for WotC to have redesigned the sheet, supposedly to make it simpler and easier to use (for new players at least), but not actually support it on their own platform.
I think I am just going to drag D&D beyond on discord, like I did with Hero Forge. Doing so got me almost immediate results for my service issue, and I have to say that I think better of Hero Fodge for caring enough to make the issue right!
I pay for an annual membership to this site and there are plenty of others that don’t cost me anything and can make this a non-issue for free! I expect options that are supported by a platform which is run by the company who makes the rules. This is ridiculous and an easy fix.
It is also shocking that this is feedback you all have been getting for a year or more now and have yet to do anything about it. I should not have to delete every character built in 2014 rules which I have created then toggle off or on a few options in the creation menu to see if I can print the CS the way it is supposed to be for a 2024 build. I have even gone as far as to buy both PHBs (that I did not need digital copies of) to see if that resolved the issue. GUESS WHAT, IT DIDN’T!?!
Do you all just not give a Sh*T about the people how support your website and user your online tools?

The visual format of the exported PDF has no impact on gameplay, every piece of information is present. This isn't a service issue. They're also under no obligation to do this, as cool as it would be. Personally, I'd much rather they fix actual bugs on the site.
Personally I hate it when they change the design of character sheets, and there was no reason to change the sheets for 2024 since nothing new was actually added or taken away. Still, since some might want it, and they already made a new design in the PHB 2024, adding a choice to export in one or the other would be nice.

Playing D&D since 1982
Have played every version of the game since Basic (original Red Box Set), except that abomination sometimes called 4e.
Right, with the new format, I'm not trying to say at all that the option shouldn't be present. Change the current button just to say "Click to Download - 2014 Format" then add a new one that's "Click to Download - 2024 Format" right above or below it. The formatting is just a preference, and both are official, so availability would be cool.
I'm just saying that treating it as a bug is wrong, and it's a minor issue at most.

I agree, bump. I want 2024 char sheet pdfs!!!
Any update/plan for the ability to export characters created on D&D Beyond into the 2024 Character Sheet format?...
I'm also waiting for this feature!

Really wanna see this change as well. Just bought the online PHB hoping that I would be able to export with the updated character sheet. RIP :(
