I'd love to have dndbeyond's search show me the rule for concentration checks used for maintaining concentration on spells when taking damage when I search for "Concentration," or "Concentration Check."
Not sure why the search function shows me "Hunters Mark" as the number one return, and I've scrolled for pages without finding the rule I am looking for. When I look this up, I generally end up googling it and finding it immediately on a number of different sites.
I realize that it's not called Concentration Check in the PHB, but I find I need to look this one up semi-regularly and part of the appeal of having a digital PHB is being able to search for rules by keyword rather than navigate to it.
Well I’m glad you agree 2.5 years later but.... I just typed in concentration and after filtering to compendium was brought immediately to the section on it. So not really a problem.
I would really like to have a way to track if a player has a concentration effect/spell active.
When I'm watching Critical Role I see that they have overlapping spells or effects (ex. Spirit Guardians and Polymorph from the the same caster or holding a spell like Guiding Bolt and also having Bane active). They also miss things like effects requiring concentration (ex. Invoke Duplicity)
If a character wants to drop concentration they can do that at any time(no action required), unless the effect/spell specifies otherwise.
Players and DMs also often forget that holding a spell cancels any concentration effect/spell that was active. Holding a spell as a Reaction requires concentration and uses up the spell slot. Also the spell have to be an Action spell. it can't be a Bonus action spell like Healing Word
A character can only concentrate on one effect/spell at any time.
I love watching the show but I see alot of confusion at their gaming table because they forget to check the effect/spell for the tag or description in the moment of great RP. I think that a activation tab or something that they can see next to their conditions or saving throws on their character sheets would help them and me as a player somewhat.
Concentration Check is a term that has been used by many even outside of DDB. It's been put in questions to Crawford, put up on Reddit questions. Even though you are making a Constitution Saving throw for that roll, its easier to remember it by it being called a Concentration Check, because that is effectively what you are making, even if the wording means something different by RAW, which its not put as.
I get Potion of Growth as my first, Hunter's Mark is 4th down after two other potions.
But as hollowtpm said, just click on the Compendium button on the top of the search to filter it to the books and it will show up under Duration. It would be good if they put a snippet tip in for Concentration to show the information needed.

I 100% agree. 2.5 years later.

As a player you simply need to know what spells you have active, and then remember to roll each time you take dmg
