Geographical Features: The Silver Song Forest (a small forest located in the hilly low lands of the Small Teeth Mountain range), Silver Spring Lake (a small lake fed by an underground spring formed by glacial pack ice in the Small Teeth Mountains and once though to be the source of the silver in the Silver River), The Silver River (Is a minor river named as such due to silver deposits in the Silver Top Mountains), The Silver Top Mountains (A small mountain range locate in the plains north of the Wealdath Forest consisting of seven low altitude mountains cutting between a fork in the Silver River)
We built a road to Imnescar so the location now matches the global map. Meanwhile one of my retainers as a Knight is a wood Elf and she's been training the locals an hour each day in archery; like the English did. Plus our Bard Michael Como has been recruiting an army for us and I've been rebuilding my credibility with foreign nobility.
So, I think Hym is prepared if the Ogres who occupy Muraan to the east decide to invade, but there is also now an army of Orcs that we are currently at war with. I think next session we'll decapitate their army because we took the battle field, entered their camp, and now have their leader surrounded. However, there is also a Red Dragon and some sort of magician nearby in some territorial contest with a Brozen Dragon wrecking havoc on everyone. Of course we allied with the Bronze Dragon.
I should add scale. I tried to from the start which is why I used graph paper. I have more local maps which are, but the larger one has been tough.
Hym is a made up town. The crossroads between Tethyr Forest (The Wealdath) and The Small Teeth was unoccupied and I had already drew the map so it was the only location that really made sense with the geography. Plus it's a cool location that gave us a hook, we had to adventurer to build an army to defend the town or pay off the Ogres who occupy Muraan nearby or be sacked. Unfortunately the Ogres just turned into a Red Dragon who in today's session nearly murdered the Brozen Dragon I entered an alliance with during session three. So we're now down a Dragon while they heal. Epic.
I think like the better part of a day. When I was younger I found making maps like this to be cathartic. I had a lot of fun with it!
In session we're on hold thru next week while the Bard is out of town but are set to be invaded by orcs and possibly a red dragon. We have prepared though. In session one I gave orders to one of my retainers to train the commoners in archery (like the Ænglish did) and put the town blacksmith to make them armor, bows, and arrows. I also asked for people to start storing water in-case of an attack. We have 150 fully kitted commoners who are moderately skilled enough to be just a die above the rest of the commoners. Once we arrived in town, last session, I gave orders to dig out a section under the keep providing protection for additional towns people to take shelter in. The Sun Elf cleric who is a friend (not a retainer) and Mountain Dwarf retainer of mine begrudged working together but using Mold Earth and Dwarven Engineering when it came to building a good tunnel underground, we are able to get several hundred into the protection of the keep if not more. Finally, we put buckets of water on top of each roof to try and mitigate the effects and spread of dragon fire. I know there are 70 Orcs in the forest, we scouted their camp - but no sign of a dragon yet. I don't think 70 Orcs will siege us. I think they will just wait and raid us which could be worse. We're prepared for a siege not running down numerous raiding parties in the field.

That is really really cool! Do the commoners have horses? Also how close is the city to the forest?

We have a stable in the keep but that is really just for me. Some of the commoners had draft horses for work or maybe mules but nothing bred for war.
The trees of The Silver Song Forest are maybe a mile off from the slope of the hill that the keep is built atop of, but there are sparse thickets between the main body of the forest and the slope of the hill. Enough room for a field of battle, but with a few areas to hide in maybe.
I should have explained this in the OP but there is lore I wrote that the DM accepted into the region. My family was given this region after helping the Queen of Tethyr a long time ago and it wasn't much more than a handful of farms. Ogres sacked the Amnish port city of Murann to the west maybe 100 years ago. My grandfather dealt with their raids and moved the family to the town to better protect it, but their forces grew and by the time my father took over we were forced to pay taxes to Tethyr but also these Ogres. My father defrauded the Crown to build a keep and some other minor improvements to the town. With this the town boomed a bit because now it could withstand the Ogres unless they got super serious about it. My father got caught, but they way he manipulated the commodities market for seed produced extra money for the new royalty in Tethyr's companies. Plus, Brost liked that Hym is there as a buffer between them an Murann. Luckily, he got off, but my flaw is that my nobility is only a token, like no one at court respects me because of my father and I have to re-earn it. So, we have a keep there but not much else.
Now additionally the Silver Spring Lake was once thought to be the source of silver in the region and is worshipped by a cult of Wood Elves from the Wealdath or Forest of Tethyr to the south. The Wood Elves didn't like settlement until they saw that we replanted the trees we cut and then they formed an arm's length friendship with the town, mostly because we are better than ogres. Later it was discovered that the real source of silver is the Silver Top Mountains to the southwest which is a very small mountain range of seven low altitude mountains like those Californians just call hills but everyone else calls mountains. They are a spur of the Small Teeth. I plan on building a silver mine there, but don't have it built yet.
LAST SESSION
The Orcs attacked! It started earnestly enough they sent an envoy asking us to turn over the city or else. Out halfling party member used Polymorph to fake being an orc but didn't know orcish so they instantly failed, but by the time that happened I was in my armor and able to catch up. I refused to turn over the city and instead asked that we have our champions fight, winner take all. They agreed with a smile and sent out a Frost Giant. For a moment there the halfling bard jacked around trying to intimidate the Frost Giant with dancing lights as we argued about how this wasn't going to... wasn't working. (Flipping halflings. lol) Then we sent out our Hexblade who wrecked house on the Frost Giant. We were level sevens but got to level eight though this session. it was a tough fight, but Hexblade is broken. They then went back to their camp and, well, never trust an Orc. They started firing a trebuchet at the keep, missed and destroyed someone's house outside the keep. They spent a few rounds re-adjusting while their main force rushed up. I sent volley of volley of arrows from the keep over the walls into the battlefield. I had started training archers and building weapons/armor months ago, so we had 150 strong, 30 of which were foot soldiers ready in case the breeched or got to the walls. The orcs were skillful in battle though and formed a tortuoso.
Hastily the party and I hashed out what to do. The Bard had the only AOE with push back, our Warlock didn't take any pushing spells. Thunderwave finally became useful! I tied a rope to the Bard as they tossed a bunch of makeshift shrapnel into a backpack and doused it in oil. We were going to lower them over the wall, but he totally jumped. Midair they lit the backpack on fire and tossed it at the Orcs but missed horribly so the contents just spilled on the ground and the back just smoldered in the dirt. Worried now the Hexblade jumped down over the walls to go help. Both the Bard and the Hexblade took fall damage doing this and I meanwhile was scratching my head asking why because we were just going to safely lower them down etc. Anyway, the Bard gets shot up by orc javelins and the Hexbalde covers some of it but they are just way outnumbered. Thankfully we buffed the Bard and gave him armor before sending them over and they got to the center of the orc tortuoso then cast Thunderwave breaking the formation and sending some of them flying. I was next in the initiative and used Commanding Strike to give him a running shot way out of the orc mass, once cleared I gave the order to fire, and we fired a volley into the tortuoso destroying it. The orcs lost their battering ram and we pulled the now unconscious and bleeding out body of the halfling because the orcs had a turn before we could hoist them over the wall. The Hexblade grabbed onto the rope and body of the Bard as we hoisted them, so they were safe in the keep again also. Next came the siege ladders, three in total, and we had to do athletics checks to toss them off. In-between trying to deal with the ladders we fed a healing potion to the Bard who had one spell slot left and cast thunderwave to toss off the ladders buying us a few moments.
I grabbed my horse and the Hexblade and we rode out on it through the gate breaking past the orcs towards the trebuchet. Once there we had a five on two fight with the orcs operating it. They had only just managed to fire a second shot which did hit the walls, but splattered their forces climbing the ladder so it was to our benefit; however, it also killed some of the militia I formed from the town making it was bittersweet. While we had our combat the Bard was managing ladders and ordering the 30-foot soldiers to the task of it while fighting the one or two orcs who made it over the wall. Once the combat at the trebuchet was done, we disabled it by burning it with oil and fire then got back up on the horse and rushed for the keep. The Hexblade was useless at this point stuck at four health, but we were almost done. With the trebuchet and battering ram out of commission we just had the siege ladders to deal with. I quickly dismounted and charged up the wall. Only two ladders remained as the Bard shattered one with Thunderwave during their combat. Pulling out my hand axe I chopped at one of the ladders sundering it. Then used my movement and action surged to chop down the other one. The battle was over, the orcs have no way into the walls, and we chopped their number in half, plus killed their champion. No sign of the Red Dragon yet though.
Townspeople who died in defense of Hym:
Colon Foreman, Oliver Big, Oden Darcy, Delling Herberd, Oliver Gregory, Kacston Brown, Becker Walter, Colby Biggs, Rhinhart Pollard, Igorn Beloly, and Ronald Faserby.
How far is the Orc camp from Hym. Will you every try to sneak in by nightfall an cause havoc such as burning it to the ground or simply slaughtering people? Also what are the walls made of? Wood, stone, dirt, also how thick are they, and how tall are they. Do you have any towers, and if the orcs attacked again it would be cool to sharped rocks or make metal spikes, dig pits, put the spikes at the bottom, and then covered it with a blanket with leaves and grass so it looks like normal ground! Then some orcs might get a spiky surprise before they could actually fight!
Also that up there was a extremely entertaining and epic description of your session! You should broadcast this on a youtube channel or something! I know I would subscribe!

Aww we're just a handful of jokers having fun. I like to write so I will keep posting the session details here, but I have my own game I am DMing starting this weekend and I do plan on doing a really nice story type thread with maps and photos. I have maps for my game, this game doesn't. However, this game is the prequel to my game. Speaking of which....
Our other and original Bard has been out of country this week and last on vacation so his character is working with the other nation north of Hym - I have it as Neverwinter for my game, but I am more into the Forgotten Realms Lore than the DM so they were just like sure. Anyway, there is a dragon that is going to attack them or us so we split the party on account of the Original Bard's vacation. Oddly enough Neverwinter was attacked by a dragon just before the events of the movie took place and my game takes place just after the game. So it just all sort of fit and I like that. When the Original Bard returns we'll work out what to do with the now 40 orcs that remain of the original 70. I have a feeling though that dragon is about to show up and despite writing to the Kingdom of Tethyr to which we are pledged I have gotten no response - this is something I address in my game and the motivation behind the adventure.
